Camp Ocean Pines, Cambria, Ca.
Mixed-Media Mosaic Retreat

Dates: Mar 12-14; Aug 20-22; Nov 5-7

If you love mosaic art and are interested in how to incorporate interesting recycled and found objects into this art form, you won’t want to miss this workshop!

Join us for a fun-filled weekend nestled in the pines overlooking the ocean. Choose between a traditional grouted mosaic or an ungrouted organically inspired design.

Learn to artistically ‘bend the rules’ of traditional mosaics by using not only tile, glass and stone but also broken china, shells, pebbles, knick-knacks, jewelry, metal and more... as you mosaic a hand made concrete birdbath*, 16” x 19” wall panel, table lamp or terra cotta pot or upon our approval a project of your own.

A vast array of materials will be provided, however participants are encouraged to collect and bring their own favorite finds, perhaps even some to share, resulting in a truly individualized project.  No mosaic experience is necessary.  We welcome mosaic enthusiasts and artists of all levels.

We kick off the weekend Friday with dinner at 5:00 followed by an inspiring visit to the whimsical home and garden of Cambria artist Elizabeth Shaw.  Mosaic a full day (& night?) Sat. and finish by noon on Sun.

Cost:  $250/person includes 2 nights lodging, 5 meals, expert instruction, use of tools and all materials.*($40 extra material fee charged for birdbath)
$195/person for offsite lodging.
