Beginners learn mosaic-making basics including use of tools, design, setting and grouting techniques. Experienced students are encouraged to develop their skills in composition, design & color. You will leave with a completed work of mosaic art along with the knowledge, confidence, and inspiration to continue creating! Styrofoam / Concrete Sculpture Workshops

Dates: If you love mosaic art and are interested in how to incorporate interesting recycled and found objects into this art form, you won’t want to miss this workshop! Join us for a fun-filled weekend nestled in the pines overlooking the ocean. With great food and unlimited working time, experience why this retreat has become one of our most popular workshops!. Along with our myriad of materials you are encouraged to bring inspirational pieces to use or share such as: recycled objects, china, shells, pebbles, jewelry, etc. Project choices include any of our indoor or outdoor projects listed under the heading Mosaic Workshops, or upon our approval, your own project. Includes expert instruction, use of tools, adhesives, grout and tesserae (shards) to create one project. Note: A $10-$75 material fee per project will be payable to instructors, depending on project choice(s). 
The retreat starts Thursday with check-in from 4-5 PM. New student orientation from 4:30-5:00 then dinner at 5:30. A highlight of every Camp Ocean Pines getaway is our inspiring visit Friday after dinner to the whimsical home and garden of Cambria artist Elizabeth Shaw. Mosaic a full day (& night?) Friday and Saturday and finish by 3:00 PM on Sunday. An intensive, 4 day hands-on workshop that will explore three popular concrete techniques to create interesting 3D garden art: 1. Polystyrene (Styrofoam) mesh & concrete 2. Rebar and/or wire, metal lath & concrete 3. Hypertufa planters and bowls made from inexpensive form materials. Prepare to complete and take home three wonderful projects! Cost: $375 with lodging, $310 without lodging or breakfast, plus $75 materials fee paid to instructors. Studio Time by-the-Hour (for experienced students)Bring your sculpture made at the styrofoam workshop or your own project to mosaic during our scheduled weekend mosaic workshops. (Mosaic on Saturday and/or grout on Sunday.) We provide tools, adhesives and limited supervision. Fee: $10 hr, 4 hr min. Workshop Registration After confirming space availability by e-mail or phone, reserve your space by sending name, address, phone, workshop date and project choice along with total fee or a $50 deposit ($100 for concrete workshop) prior to workshop with balance due on day of workshop.
